Time for a super-quick update of my life...

I went to India. I had a bloody fantastic time. I rode an elephant. I had a monkey run up my leg while I was in a temple. I saw the birthplace of Hanuman, and I also saw where Shiva and Parvati got married. I got stared at endlessly. I stayed in a mud hut in the jungle. I survived the plane journey. Photos will be posted when I feel like scanning them...

I spent new year's eve at a party in Ed and Karen's house. Fancy dress - "the year you were born". I decided the best thing that happened in 1984 was me, so I went as myself. Mwahaha. I drank a lot of cider and homemade sloe gin. My cleavage was apparently very impressive that night.

On the 2nd of January, I started my first ever real job. Shock horror. I am now Museum Assistant at St Fagans National History Museum. It's quite possibly the best job I could ever have. The museum is a site made up of a number of historical buildings and houses which have been re-erected, and I'm basically paid to sit in these old houses, and keep a fire going, now and then telling visitors about the place. Fantastic. They've been filming Doctor Who down there this week. While I've never watched an episode, after seeing David Tennant up close and personal, I think I might just start.

As soon as I get my first pay, I will buy a violin. Even though I cannot play. I will also probably be buying a Mini Cooper. Yeehaw.

On Saturday, I am leaving the country to go travelling around India. Never in all my life have I encountered such a vast amount of hassle in preparing to go somewhere. I have had vaccinations. I have to take malaria medication for 7 weeks. I have to travel to London in order to obtain a visa. I have no idea what I should do about Indian money - it's illegal to change my money into rupees here and then take it into India. I have no itinerary for travelling when I get there. It's an 11 hour flight, and I don't like flying. This could prove to be a very interesting trip. If I ever make it there...
